Hello there! My name is Katherine Frazier-Jones. After a five-year stint in Kansas City as an Air Force wife and graduate student, I kicked off my post-graduate career as an Advertising Copywriter and Email Marketing Manager at CRC Press/Taylor & Francis. I then joined TBC Corporation – the parent company of international tire and automotive service retailers – where I honed my writing craft and flexed my creative muscle in content strategy, photography and video direction, and project management.
After six years, I was ready to work outside the retail space, so I answered a recruiting call from JetSmarter, the private aviation tech startup in Fort Lauderdale, for a full-time writing gig as the company’s Senior Content Writer. A year later, I was promoted to Director of Communications, where I worked directly with the CEO and executive team to develop and deliver go-to-market strategies.
After a move to Boca Raton and a long-standing love affair with college campuses, I was thrilled to make the move to higher education as the Director of Communications for the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice at Florida Atlantic University. When my husband took a job at the University of New Mexico, we traded the beach for the high mountain desert where I founded Songbird Consulting, LLC, a communications and creative agency for higher-education and mission-driven institutions.
In addition to Swimming Toward the Shark, I am also the author of an unpublished novel, two children’s books, and a growing list of yet-to-be-written ideas. I am actively querying literary agents and hope to be able to share these stories soon. I find my greatest inspiration comes from traveling, making space for stillness, and noticing the unexpected details that connect the human experience. I am grateful our paths have crossed here. Keep swimming!
